Transportation

In terms of transport, Tbilisi is well connected.  Arrival by plane is recommended.  Tbilisi International Airport is easily accessible; it is located only 17, 6 km from the city centre, i.e. 20-25 minutes drive. Tbilisi has good airline connections with all large European and Central Asia Union centres, the best connections being with Munich, Vienna, Amsterdam, Athens, Istanbul, Kiev, Minsk, Baku, Astana, and Almaty.

Transfer by taxi service is recommended, it is not expensive in Tbilisi. We recommend the services of “Toyota Taxi & shuttle“ (Tel: 2-511 or +995 32 2511511). Taxi service costs approx. GEL 25 (approx. EUR 9) from the airport to the city center.

Currency

The official currency in Georgia is Georgian Lari (GEL). GEL - EUR ratio is 1: 2.8770. There are numerous and easily accessible currency exchange offices in Tbilisi. Use of credit cards is very common (Visa, Maestro, American Express, etc.)

Climate

Tbilisi has a humid subtropical climate with considerable continental influences. The city experiences very warm summers and moderately cold winters. The average annual temperature in Tbilisi is 13.3 °C (55.9 °F). The average temperature in Tbilisi in June is 26.0 °C.  Overnight temperatures are generally very mild with an average low of 16 °C.

Time zone

The time zone in Georgia is Central-European time (GMT+1).

Electricity and water

The standard voltage in Tbilisi is 220 V.  and the standard frequency is 50 Hz. Water is safe for drinking, and bottled water is available in all shops.

Communications

The country code for Georgia is +995 and the area code for Tbilisi is 322, after + 995 322 you can dial the telephone number. Georgian mobile operators (Geocell, MagtiCom, Beeline) cover whole territory of the country and there are many WI-FI zones that enable visitors to use internet for free.

Safety

Georgia is known as a safe country. Tbilisi is no exception. All participants will receive a “badge” which they will need to be able to enter the Conference premises.

In case of any emergencies, you can call 112, a single emergency number for police, ambulance and fire rescue.
