Prosecutor of the Year Award

The aim of the the IAP Prosecutor of the Year Award is to give a special recognition and encouragement to front-line prosecutors, who have demonstrated an outstanding performance in their work, domestically or internationally.

In 2024 the IAP Prosecutor of the Year Award was presented to:

Thomas J. Eicher, Assistant Attorney General of New Jersey. In recognition of his commitment to justice, to better outcomes for the public and the plice alike, and his dedication to the rule of law. (full citation)

Special Achievement Award

The Special Achievement Award is given to a prosecutor, whether a member of the IAP or not, who has demonstrated special dedication in the pursuit of his/her professional responsibilities, or who has discharged his/her professional responsibilities in the face of special hardship or adversity or under other circumstances which deserve special recognition.

In 2024 the IAP Special Achievement Awards were presented to:

  • Chang, Shih-Chia, Prosecutor of Taichung District Prosecutors Office. In recognition of this dedication to fighting international fraud and organised crime. (full citation)
  • The R. v Coban Prosecution Team of the British Columbia Crown Counsel Association. In recognition of the extremely complex prosecution of Mr. Coban's case, as well as the denunciation that must be made of such offences. (full citation)
  • The Curió Massacre Prosecution Team in Fortaleza, Brazil. In recognition of their determination and courage in upholding the rule of law. (full citation)

Honorary membership

According to IAP’s Constitution, an Honorary Membership is a special kind of membership, expressing a high level of appreciation by the Association. On recommendation of the Executive Committee, the General Meeting may elect as an Honorary member of the Association any person who has made an outstanding intellectual or organizational contribution to the development and operations of the Association.

  • Nicola Mahaffy, IAP Senator, and former IAP Vice President
  • Han Moraal, IAP Senator, former IAP Secretary-General.
  • Jean-Francois Thony, IAP Senator

Certificates of Merit

The IAP Certificate of Merit is awarded as an expression of the Association's gratitude to members of the IAP (individual or organisational) for their pursuit of the Objects of the Association. Certificates of Merit can also be awarded to non IAP members as an expression of the Association's gratitude for supporting the Association.

  • Ip. Son Sang, Prosecutor General of Macao, for hosting the 57th IAP Executive Committee Meeting in Macao from 18-19 April 2024
  • Crown Prosecution Service of England and Wales, for organising and hosting the 28th Annual Conference and General Meeting in London, United Kingdom, from 24-27 September 2023
