Justice Rapid Response Roster recruitment courses are an integral part of the recruitment process for the organization's Expert Roster and final decisions on the certification of participants will be taken after the course is completed. The goal of the courses is to increase the pool of experts in the professional categories that are listed in the calls for nominations, and candidates who are available to deploy at short notice to national, international, and regional accountability and transitional justice mechanisms. These deployments help to ensure that justice bodies have the highly specialized expertise to properly document, investigate, analyse and prosecute international core crimes and serious human rights violations. JRR has previously supported States, the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, UN Commissions of Inquiry and Fact-Finding Missions, the International Criminal Court (ICC), international and hybrid courts and truth commissions among others.

The goal of this course is to increase the pool of experts from the Global South, participation is therefore reserved to professionals with ODA-recipient country nationality.
Considering the risks and constraints related to the current Covid-19 pandemic, and encouraged by the positive experiences of universities and training institutions with virtual programmes, JRR and IICI are now proposing an online recruitment course for 20 experts who will be selected as potential experts for the JRR Expert Roster.
This intensive course is scheduled to take place from 16 September to 3 October 2020. Over the course of 2.5 weeks, participants will be participating every day in half day sessions that include webinars and individual and group exercises, which will address subjects relevant to investigating core international crimes. The programme will contain webinars and lectures on legal frameworks, gender dimensions, cyber security, etc. The group work and exercises such as interviewing skills will also take place in an online format.

JRR Recruitment Course for experts in the Investigation of International Crimes Against Children

The aim of this course is to train experts in how they can participate in or lead an international investigation into international crimes against children or involving children.
The course will focus on critical and practical aspects of deployments for international criminal investigations. Mission planning, legal framework, resilience and psycho-social considerations in working with children, investigation and prosecution of SGBV crimes involving children and reporting - including on the impact of international crimes on children - will be addressed in the course.
